HR and Payroll Officer (Salary: Circa £22,000)

We’ve got a great new role here at Rye Academy Trust to support our new Director of Finance & Business with our HR and payroll activities.

With a staff around 150, this will be a fantastic way to get to get involved in all aspects of HR operations such as recruitment, absence and performance management, contracts and employment law as well as payroll.  This could be your first role after qualifying in HR management, your next step after your first HR job or you could be an experienced HR practitioner looking to return after a break – we know you’ll enjoy it whoever you are.  All of this will be in a school that’s going places, with a new leadership team.

You’ll need to have the courage to act within the employment legal framework and interpret policies fairly and consistently.  But you’ll be able to influence local policies, keep them up to date and it will be an opportunity to work with Trades Union representatives to make sure colleagues are supported, but challenged where needed.

We’d like you to have as a minimum Associate CIPD status (or be about to obtain this)  If you’ve got experience of working in an HR setting, which could be a shared service team or payroll department, that will be even better.  You’ll need great IT skills so you can get to grips with the systems we use to support our staff and the ability to write clear, concise and accurate documents.  Our Trust Board and Leadership Teams need the data you will provide on a monthly basis to help support their strategic decision making, so you should be confident to interpret data and write short reports.

You’ll benefit from a generous annual leave allowance per year and the opportunity to join an excellent Pension scheme.  You’ll have mentoring and support around you in the early days from some experienced HR and Payroll practitioners before you set off on your journey for real.
